Dr. D. Sakthi Kumar,
Chairman
Indian JSPS Alumni Association

I am very pleased to hear that an Indian JSPS Alumni Association has been established through the efforts of former JSPS Fellows. On behalf of JSPS, I wish to express my appreciation to the association's founders and members.

JSPS considers India to be one of its most important partner countries, and is continually working to develop exchange between Indian and Japanese researchers.

Since the establishment of the JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researchers, over 6,500 researchers from various countries have come to Japan under the program, including more than 500 Indian researchers. JSPS's exchange with India does not stop there, however. JSPS has and is continuing to develop various forms of scientific collaboration and research activities between India and Japan through counterpart organizations in the Indian National Science Academy (INSA) and Department of Science and Technology (DST). It also supports Indian researchers in obtaining doctoral degrees from Japanese universities through the RONPAKU (dissertation) PhD program.

I look forward to the Indian JSPS Alumni Association promoting scientific exchange, researcher networking, cultural collaboration, and mutual friendship between our two countries.

Prof. Motoyuki Ono
President
